Mama Juju- Testimonials and  Reviews :

“Thankyou for your wonderful entertainment at Greenslopes Community Service Awards. …. your tasteful jazzy style of music complemented the morning’s activities perfectly”–  Cameron Dick-  Minister for Education & Industrial Relations 2011.

“The self-titled debut album by Mama Juju & Sugar Cane Slim is an absolute blast. Slim demonstrates his immaculate blues/jazz/ragtime guitar chops. Juju slides effortlessly from 1930s blues mama (He May Be Your Man) to the Western Swing sound of Sweetheart, the (multitracked) Andrews Sisters style harmonies of Undecided (originally sung in the 1950s by the Ames Brothers), the bad girl growl of Bad Attitude and Big Bad Handsome Man, and the piece de resistance, is a sexy as all get out version of the late lamented Kirsty MacColl’s In These Shoes. In short, this is a fabulous album, superbly recorded, and the album concept and artwork is just divine! It’s got the look of those big round black vinyl objects that we used to call LPs, magically reduced to CD package proportions” CD review- Ian Dearden The Folk Rag

“Mama Juju rank amongst my top preferred Brisbane performers and their CD is currently my home favourite. My reasons are, this hot duo have all the right elements to bring home great Jazz/Blues music. Together they have a Bonnie and Clyde essence which is enchanting. They both have abilities plus. Slim cuts a fine figure in his hat and suit. He is a top notch guitarist in the finger picking style which I rarely see but which adds a distinctive and enviable edge to guitar playing. Juju is Vaudeville sexy and so are the steamy songs. She not only has a tremendous voice but a capacity to work the edges of her upper and lower voice range. She can take it higher and sing it sweet or she can gravel it.”- M.B
